Comments:

This is what we need to live very simply but without totally tiring ourselves out in Mexico. When we say “living simply,” we mean “comparable to” middle-class Mexicans, which is the people group we’re aiming to reach out to. As we already mentioned earlier, in addition to this lifestyle we have the cost of staying in touch with the U.S. (travel and communication costs), and things like car insurance, which is not a necessity for most middle-class Mexicans. It’s important to point out that when you take out these extra expenses we are actually living a lifestyle similar to lower-middle-class Mexicans.

We’ve been receiving less than the $1850 a month that we need in financial support, so of course we haven’t been following the budget - we’ve been cutting everything that isn’t totally urgent. For example, we haven’t been putting money into savings like we should and we’re behind on paying our taxes. We also have some debt accumulated from times that our support has been insufficient. In addition to this, we’re feeling overloaded because reducing our expenses means cutting back on our housekeeper, never being able to pay to have the truck washed, or never grabbing a meal to eat while we’re out. These things, on top of our regular jobs and ministry, are really too much for us, especially since the church is growing and we’re still in the middle of construction.   (No wonder family planning has not been much of a problem for us !!  :) )
