Surrounded by mountains, "La Laguna" is the overall name given to a cluster of three cities built on a river in the middle of a desert. Ironically, though, the wide but shallow river which inspired the name is now actually dry since all of its water is used by the city.
The three cities of "La Laguna" are named Torreón, Gomez-Palacio, and Lerdo.
Approximate total population:
1.4 million
According to the people of the local "Viña", this Vineyard offers a fresh alternative to the people of the Laguna. It focuses on sharing and demonstrating the love of Jesus Christ with freedom from religious traditions and legalism.
This huge statue of Jesus stands on a mountain at the very edge of Torreón. It's visible from every part of the "Laguna," and speaks powerfully of how Jesus is looking out and watching over the 1.4 million people living there.
